I confess, this one is not a recent discovery, yet, something that keeps showing itself in many different occasions. People are so much concentrating on the presented material and themselves that they are forgetting the most important question: ‘what do I want to achieve at the end of this presentation?’. There is a triangle of presentation preparation; topic/presentation material, presenter and audience. During preparation, all relationships within this triangle has to be visited (3 more questions to ask inline with the most important one).
- What’s the relationship between topic and myself (and how do we present it)
- What’s the relationship between me and audience (what engagement do I need, what I can offer and what I can take)
- What’s the relationship between audience and the topic (what are they going to get from material, what am I communicating, is there an answer to question of ‘so what?’).
What happens when all these sides are not considered, we watch either stressed people obsessed with material they are presenting only or cool people who play ‘I know everything’ and leaves as with a big question mark ‘so what?’. If you have a presentation to make, simply answer the questions, and build the connections before, and enjoy the joy of your audience during your presentation.
İtiraf ediyorum, bunu yeni öğrenmedim, ancak son zamanlarda çok sık karşılaşmaya başladığım bir durum. İnsanlar sunum yaparken, sundukları malzemeye ve kendilerine o kadar odaklanıyorlar ki en önemli soruyu sormayı unutuyorlar: ‘bu sunumun sonunda neyi başarmak istiyorum?’. Sunum hazırlığı olarak sunum üçgenine bakmak gerekiyor; konu/sunum malzemesi, sunumu yapan ve katılımcılar. Hazırlık sırasında, bu üçgenin tüm kenarları dikkate alınmalı (en önemli sorunun 3 eşlikçi sorusu).
- Konu ve benim aramdaki bağ nedir (ve bunu nasıl sunacağım)
- Benimle katılımcılar arasındaki ilişki nedir (nasıl bir etkileşime ihtiyacım var, ne verebilirim ve ne alabilirim)
- Konuyla katılımcılar arasındaki bağ nedir (malzemeden ne edinecekler, iletişimi kurulan esas şey nedir, ‘e yani?’ sorusuna bir cevap var mı).
Bütün bunlar dikkate alınmadığında, ya stres olmuş ve sadece sunduğu malzemeye takılıp kalmış kişileri ya da ‘ben her şeyi bilenim’ havasında takılan ve ortada kocaman bir ‘e yani?’ sorusu bırakan kişileri izliyoruz. Bir sunumunuz olduğunda, basitçe yukarıdaki sorulara cevap verin, ve sunum öncesinde üçgenin köşeleri arasındaki bağlantıyı kurun. Ondan sonra, sunum sırasında, sunumun tadını çıkaranları keyifle izleyin.
